Fiat Kobelco was founded in Italy in 2002 as a joint venture between Fiat and Kobelco of Japan. Fiat Kobelco was the successor to the former Fiat-Hitachi partnership which was dissolved in 2001. Fiat Kobelco built all kinds of construction equipment, including excavators, crawlers, skid steer loaders and much more.
After CNH Global was formed as a result of the merger of Fiat's New Holland and Case IH from the United States, Fiat Kobelco was renamed Kobelco Construction Machinery America. As a result of this merger, the company became part of New Holland Construction.
